City <br />;i. <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO • S1NC N - <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM 9A <br />SUBJECT: <br />DATE: <br />ELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM <br />DECEMBER 5, 2017 <br />PRESENTED BY: MEREDYTH MUTH, CITY CLERK <br />SUMMARY: <br />As required by the City Charter, the Council elects a Mayor pro tem following the City <br />Council election. Charter Section 3-2(c): By the affirmative vote of a majority of the <br />entire City Council, a Councilmember shall be appointed as Mayor pro tem for a two (2) <br />year term, to perform the responsibilities of the Mayor when the Mayor is absent or is <br />otherwise unable to perform the responsibilities of the Mayor. <br />According to state law (C.R.S 24-6-402(2)): a vote to elect leadership of a state or local <br />public body by that same public body may be taken by secret ballot. The Council has <br />the option of voting by ballot or with voice votes for the election of the Mayor pro tem. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Elect Mayor pro tem to serve for two years. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />None. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />59 <br />
