Library Board of Trustees
Minutes: July 29, 2008

The 969 children registered for Summer Reading read over 14,000 hours. To
acknowledge this achievement, the Louisville Public Library Foundation will donate $500
to Louisville Preschool for "take-home" literacy kits containing books and audiovisual
materials.

Adult Services staff members, Kathy Kelly and Karen Ingish, prepared an LSTA (Library
Services and Technology Act) grant proposal to obtain funding to enhance a pilot
program of three exhibits from the Space Science Institute (SSI), which is to begin this
fall. Louisville was asked by SSI to be the prototype site, and these funds will be used
for collection development, programs, and kits that will contain a microscope and
various materials that can be loaned to other libraries and schools.

B. Update on Library Task Force

Anne reported that the task force met in June with Town of Superior Mayor Andrew
Muckle and Town Manager Scott Randall to discuss particulars related to formation of a
library district between the two communities. In advance of the meeting, an extensive
outline of the library district formation process had been prepared by Anne and
distributed to all parties.

Initially, the Superior Town Board expressed some interest in pursuing a library district.
However, further discussion indicated little willingness to undertake some of the steps
required by Colorado Library Law to form a library district.

The current agreement between Louisville and Superior expires on December 31, 2008.
An agreement for 2009 and beyond was to be determined by the end of June, 2008, and
although this deadline has passed, both sides have agreed to continue discussions.

10.
