Agnes was the niece of both Edward and
Martha Dirkes, as Martha's sister also married Edward's brother. All lived near one another in
the Frenchtown neighborhood.
In 1956, Edward and Martha Dirkes sold 901 Parkview (Lots 1-3) to Joseph Ferarese and Shirley
Thompson Ferarese.
Ferarese Family Ownership, 1956-2015
Joseph "Joe" Ferarese (1930-2015) and Shirley Thompson Ferarese (1932-2011) married in
1952 and bought 901 Parkview in 1956. Joe's father had been born in Italy, while his mother,
Susie Damelia, had been born in the Louisville area to parents who had come from Italy. Shirley
Thompson's grandparents are believed to have come to Louisville in the early 1880s, not long
after Louisville's founding, and her grandfather worked as an engineer in the young coal mine
industry.
Joe served in the U.S. Navy and had a 36-year-long career at Rocky Flats. Joe and Shirley
Ferarese raised their five daughters at 901 Parkview.
Following the death of Shirley in 2011 and the death of Joe in 2015, his estate sold 901
Parkview to F F P LLC, which is the current owner of record.
The preceding research is based on a review of relevant and available online County property records, census
records, oral history interviews, Louisville directories, and Louisville Historical Museum maps, files, and obituary
records.
4
