RESOLUTION NO. 53 SERIES 1996 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT AMONG THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT (RTD), THE CITIES OF BOULDER, BROOMFIELD AND WESTMINSTER, THE TOWN OF SUPERIOR AND THE COUNTIES OF BOULDER AND JEFFERSON, COLORADO. WHEREAS, an intergovernmental agreement among the City of Louisville, the Regional Transportation District (RTD), the Cities of Boulder, Broomfield and Westminster, the Town of Superior and the Counties of Boulder and Jefferson has been proposed; and WHEREAS, the proposed agreement will provide a means for cooperative transportation planning along the U.S. 36 corridor; and WHEREAS, the proposed intergovernmental agreement is intended to assist the City of Louisville in its efforts to reduce traffic congestion onto U.S. 36 from Louisville; and WHEREAS, collaboration among neighboring communities will enhance the ability of Louisville residents to commute to and from other areas in the region; and WHEREAS, the proposed agreement seeks to a unite area governments in requests for transportation project funding; and WHEREAS, the proposed intergovernmental agreement would encourage a well-ordered, multi-modal transportation planning process for the U.S. 36 corridor, unify affected governments in addressing transportation needs, reduce duplication of efforts, and promote the economic viability of the parties; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the proposed intergovernmental agreement is in the best interests of the City and its citizens. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: 1. The proposed intergovernmental agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference, is hereby approved. 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the attached intergovernmental agreement on behalf of the City Council of the City of Louisville.
