<br />RESOLUTION NO. 53 <br />SERIES 1996 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL <br />AGREEMENT AMONG THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, THE <br />REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT (RTD), THE CITIES <br />OF BOULDER, BROOMFIELD AND WESTMINSTER, THE <br />TOWN OF SUPERIOR AND THE COUNTIES OF BOULDER <br />AND JEFFERSON, COLORADO. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an intergovernmental agreement among the City of Louisville, the Regional <br />Transportation District (RTD), the Cities of Boulder, Broomfield and Westminster, the Town of Superior and <br />the Counties of Boulder and Jefferson has been proposed; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed agreement will provide a means for cooperative transportation planning <br />along the U.S. 36 corridor; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed intergovernmental agreement is intended to assist the City of Louisville in its <br />efforts to reduce traffic congestion onto U.S. 36 from Louisville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, collaboration among neighboring communities will enhance the ability of Louisville <br />residents to commute to and from other areas in the region; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed agreement seeks to a unite area governments in requests for transportation <br />project funding; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed intergovernmental agreement would encourage a well-ordered, multi-modal <br />transportation planning process for the U.S. 36 corridor, unify affected governments in addressing transportation <br />needs, reduce duplication of efforts, and promote the economic viability of the parties; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the proposed intergovernmental agreement is in the best <br />interests of the City and its citizens. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br /> <br />1. The proposed intergovernmental agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated <br />herein by this reference, is hereby approved. <br /> <br />2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the attached intergovernmental agreement on behalf <br />of the City Council of the City of Louisville. <br />
