City oaf Im Louisville COLORADO - SINCE 1878 SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD COMMUNICATION SUBJECT: DATE: 2 -YEAR WORK PLAN UPDATE JANUARY 17, 2018 PRESENTED BY: EMILY HOGAN, ASSISTANT TO THE CITY MANAGER SUMMARY: In November 2016, City Council approved the Louisville Sustainability Action Plan (SAP), developed by the Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board (LSAB). The SAP addresses five sustainability categories: Climate & Energy, Water, Transportation, Waste and Local Food and Agriculture. The SAP expresses the desires of the City to make progress towards sustainability, both internally in the operations of the City and externally through the actions of Louisville residents and businesses. The intent of the draft 2 -Year Work Plan is to measure the City's progress in achieving the 57 strategies identified in the SAP and establish recommended actions for continuing the City's progress in achieving the goals of the SAP. In 2017 the City's Sustainability Specialist drafted recommended actions for the 2 -Year Work Plan after researching and collecting input from LSAB and City staff. Stakeholder support, timeframe and funding were considered when identifying recommended actions. The draft 2 -Year Work Plan was presented to City Council at a study session on October 24, 2017. City Council suggested that the 2 -Year Work Plan should be based on the goals and objectives of the Sustainability Sub -Program in addition to the SAP. City Council also discussed prioritizing the recommended actions by impact on the Sustainability Sub -Program. Staff will bring the revised 2 -Year Work Plan back to City Council at another study session in 2018. DISCUSSION Staff revised the 2 -Year Work Plan to address City Council's feedback. The revisions include the following: adding goals and objectives that are based on the Sustainability Sub -Program, identifying top recommended actions that can be completed in 2018 and 2019 that impact the Sustainability Sub -Program and are within the City's budget and defining any acronyms.
