I was asked by the Louisville City Forester Chris Lichty to inspect 2 Cottonwood trees at the Louisville
Recreation and Senior Center. Both of the trees are located on the eastern side of the property.
I did a field inspection on the trees on the 9th and 10th of January 2018. There is active construction on
the property and 1 of the trees was fenced off and one of the trees was outside the construction zone in
the greenbelt. I was given access to the construction area tree by the project manager from Saunders
Construction. (Photos in this report have been modified for sizing)
The west tree is a 47 inch DBH (diameter at breast height) Cottonwood (right). The east tree is a 45 inch
DBH Cottonwood (Left). These trees have aesthetic and wildlife value for the area. They also pose safety
concerns.
Both trees are mature and showing expected signs of aging for this species in Colorado.
9
