City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />October 24, 2017 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />Planning and Building Safety Director Rob Zuccaro presented an update on first <br />and final mile efforts related to McCaslin station and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) <br />service. Zuccaro said the purpose of first and final mile infrastructure and <br />policies is to improve ridership to get people to and from the station. <br />Most of Centennial Valley, one of the City's major employment centers, is in the <br />first and final mile radius of the McCaslin station. <br />Zuccaro said Louisville's partnership with Superior is important because we <br />share the transit stop with Superior. More people are using the station because <br />of the Flatiron Flyer. Louisville will have 30 signs that will coordinate with other <br />jurisdictions and will be branded, as an example of one regional effort at first and <br />final mile improvements. <br />Zuccaro reviewed other initiatives the City of Louisville is undertaking and <br />discussed each of the following items from the First and Last Mile Study that <br />Louisville participated in with 36 Commuting Solutions and other local <br />jurisdictions. <br />List of community corridor improvements recommendations: <br />• Secured Bike Parking Structure <br />• Wayfinding <br />• Ecopasses <br />Louisville Priority Improvements: <br />• McCaslin Underpass <br />• Call and Ride Service <br />• Wayfinding <br />• Pick up and Drop off locations <br />• Mini Transportation Hubs <br />• Powerline Trail Connection (funded for 2018) <br />• ADA Accessible Ramps <br />Council member Stolzmann would like data to see if things have changed after <br />speed tables were installed at Cherry and McCaslin. <br />Zuccaro discussed implementing more of a street grid to provide better <br />connectivity and infrastructure. As redevelopment takes place, find opportunities <br />to provide a street grid. <br />Zuccaro discussed other improvements done by the city not included in the First <br />and Last Mile Study but that were relevant improvements: <br />• Diverging Diamond <br />• Coal Creek trail Head <br />
