Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
October 8, 2008
4. Jean Morgan expressed concerns to staff about weed enforcement on
private property. Specifically, Puncture Vine is not tall enough. Weeds
need to be taller than 6" to enforce. Ember will be making
recommendations to change the code as it is stated currently.
5. Urban Drainage is a statewide entity responsible for cleaning all drainage
systems. They are looking at fixing the Aquarius underpass that always
floods. The best option requires permission from the Mayhoffer family to
lower the streambed below the outlet; about two feet. UD is also looking
at drainage at the upper part of the hill and a floodwall as tall as four feet.
If approved by the Mayhoffers the first year engineering will have the
project and in the second year the work would start. UD is also looking at
removing the Russian Olive when the channel at Tamarisk is cleaned out.
6. The grant that Kathy Kron applied for was turned down. However, work
at Daughenbaugh and the Recreation Center should still be done by
2009.
7. There will be a city appreciation dinner for OSAB sometime this Winter.
We need to pick a date.
Board Updates
Linda brought in a sample of Bunch Grass since Ember had noted it at
Dutch Creek.
Kate invited the board to an open discussion of the Single Hauling issue in
Louisville on Oct 19th at 1 pm at the Methodist Church.
Aaron asked about surveys of traffic on trails. Ember is looking into
mechanical counters and if she can't get them then she will solicit volunteers to
do it.
Tom asked if OS cameras are catching any wildlife photos. Ember said
there has been nothing of interest to report.
Open Space Master Plan Updates and edits
Edits have been suggested by OSAB only. Mostly grammatical or editorial in
nature. OSAB members are asked go through second half of master plan and
submit edits to Ember before the next meeting. List of suggestions can be put up
on screen with original text also. Tom moves to close discussion. Larry
seconded passed unanimously.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting
1. Complete OS master plan updates.
2. McCaslin Underpass.
3. Conoco Phillips presentation from Planning
Date set for joint Broomfield meeting will be on their meeting night in January.
