Planning Commission
Meeting Minutes
December 14, 2017
Haley stated that the Farmers' Market was a place where people wanted to talk and gain
information, whereas the street fair was loud.
Fahey added that events like street fair attracted more people from outside the City.
Trice reminded the Commission that everything the subcommittees recommended would be
brought to the Commission as a whole. If commissioners ever wanted more training on
anything, they can reach out to staff. She asked the Commission if they were still interested in
realtor outreach and training.
Parris stated that she had experience in realtor training and would be willing to help with that
goal.
Fahey stated that there was a conference in Des Moines.
Trice confirmed that Fahey would be the representative conference this year in Iowa.
Ulm stated that goals 2 and 3 could work together, as a realtor's base was broader than just one
town.
Trice reminded the Commission that goal 3 is training for the boards themselves. Realtors could
be added later in that process. She stated that Louisville has a unique program that might be
hard for realtors to make use of.
Cyndi Thomas stated that the open houses could be outreach events.
Trice stated that those events were largely for property owners' questions for the Commission.
Cyndi Thomas asked if a landmarked house could host an outreach event.
Trice responded that all meetings had to occur within a City facility.
Fahey asked if they could hold the event in the Center for the Arts.
Trice stated that that was possible, but they would need to get on the schedule early as the
Center filled up quickly.
Haley stated that Boulder hosted informal informational meetings in landmarked homes. She
asked if that would be allowed
Trice stated that Boulder's City Charter was different from Louisville's, but she would look into it.
Dickinson stated that the Commission could get involved in the home tour fundraising event that
the elementary school holds. He asked if it would be allowed to have a table or two on the
school tour for information on Historic Preservation in Louisville.
Trice stated that it might be possible. She asked if Dickinson thought the school would be
interested in an older house.
Dickinson stated that his home, the old hospital, could be a mix of old and new that the school
might be interested in.
