Louisville City Council Meeting <br />August 19, 2003 <br />Page 7 of 8 <br /> <br />· There is a recommendation before the RTD Board to formally approve the design <br /> and construction of a park-n-ride, bus ramps, pedestrian bridge and associated <br /> improvements on US36/McCaslin Interchange. <br />· The Town of Superior would like to conduct a joint workshop/public meeting <br /> with the Louisville City Council on September 10, at 7:00 p.m., to discuss <br /> recommendation on the design components of the McCaslin Interchange. That <br /> would include discussion on the landscape master plan, pedestrian/bike <br /> circulation plan, pedestrian bridge and bridge enhancements and pedestrian <br /> lighting and shelters. At the meeting the Superior Board will formally adopt the <br /> recommendation, however the Louisville City Council will approve those <br /> recommendations at its September 15th City Council meeting. <br />· Balser reported she has not heard from CDOT on the final recommendation oh the <br /> US36 signage plan. <br /> <br />City Mananger Simmons asked Deputy City Manager Julie Boyd to update Council on <br />the progress of the Police/Court facility. <br /> · Boyd reported the Mayor has signed the contract to FCI to build the Police <br /> Department. The building department will issue building permits next week and <br /> work is expected to begin in mid-September. <br /> <br />City Manager Simmons reported on the following: <br /> · The building department issued building permits to the Balfour Senior Living <br /> Community. <br /> · Council approval (on the consent agenda) of the award of bid for the structure <br /> Demolition & Asbestos Removal to clean up the asbestos at the MedTec property. <br /> · Negotiations continue with the railroad for the bridge crossings for the Highway <br /> 42/S 96th Street project. <br /> · The trailer issue would be discussed at a study session next month. He noted <br /> many of the issues mentioned this evening could be addressed by existing <br /> ordinances. <br /> <br />Levihn concurred some trailer areas should be cleaned up and the ordinances enforced. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Brown reported on "Meet the Teacher Night" at Coal Creek Elementary School, where he <br />met with the new principal. He referenced a meeting last year with the school principals <br />and staff members and suggested Council meet again with school principals. He <br />commented on the new amenities at Memory Square pool, and addressed the early <br />closing of pool. He asked Staff to look at the current policy and perhaps extend the <br />season for the pool use. He addressed the Dillon/St. Andrews intersection, and asked if <br />Council and Staff could discuss the issue. <br /> <br />Levihn stated the public does not frequent the Memory Square Pool in late summer. <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br /> <br />
