Lcityor <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />Open Space Advisory Board Meeting Minutes <br />Wednesday, December 13th, 2017 <br />Louisville Public Library: First Floor Meeting Room <br />951 Spruce Street <br />7:00 pm <br />I. Call to Order- Helen called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm. <br />II. Roll Call - <br />Board Members Present: Helen Moshak, Laura Scott Denton, Missy Davis, Mike <br />Schantz, Graeme Patterson, Jim Gibb, Fiona Garvin <br />Board Members Absent: none <br />City Council Members Present: Jeff Lipton <br />Staff Members Present: Ember Brignull <br />III. Approval of Agenda - <br />Jeff suggested moving the discussion item about the Davidson Mesa Dog Off - <br />leash Area issue up, because there were so many members of the public there to <br />participate in that discussion. The board and public agreed. <br />Jim moved to approve the agenda with the aforementioned change. Missy <br />seconded. The motion was passed unanimously. <br />IV. Approval of Previous Meeting's Minutes - <br />Missy moved to approve the minutes as written. Jim seconded. The motion was <br />passed unanimously. <br />V. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda - <br />A. Maryann Haney (1117 LaFarge Ave) from the City's Sustainability Advisory <br />Board spoke. She and others from the board are presenting their bee initiative to City <br />Council at the Council meeting on December 19th. They want permission from the City <br />to put bee hives on commercial properties, not just residential properties. This would <br />require Council to change some zoning regulations. She asked for OSAB's support for <br />this issue by sending emails or attending the Council meeting. <br />VI. Discussion Item: Sharing of Resolution of Appreciation for Graeme <br />Patterson <br />Helen read aloud the resolution of appreciation for Graeme Patterson that was <br />included the packet. <br />VII. Discussion Item: Expanding and Improving Human/Dog Recreation Options <br />and Protecting and Preserving Open Space <br />Many public members (88+) attended and were interested in discussing this <br />topic. Helen began by giving some context and the history of the Davidson Mesa Dog <br />Off -leash Area (DOLA). She told the meeting that OSAB used a tiger team to develop <br />suggestions for short-term improvements in maintenance and management practices for <br />the DOLA. The board has also discussed about how to expand and improve human and <br />dog recreational options at a more strategic, City-wide level.
