Recreation Advisory Board
Minuto®
DATE
Pogo 2of3
• Councilman Maloney presented an update from city council. Key
updates include measures council will vote upon related to the
RAB, FFE (Furniture, Fixture, Equipment) packages 1 (Memory
Square, less than $10,000), 2 (Rec Center West Addition, less than
$25,000), 3 (Rec Center Fitness Equipment, approximately
$215,000)
• Joe Stephens provided a construction update. The total value of the
Rec Center and Memory Square construction project is
$32,084,620. The council will receive the proposal for Task Order 3
to extend the project management contract for the construction
project by Dunn & Kelly for $99,875.
• The Recreation organizational chart was discussed. The
organization plan is expected to remain largely in place, other than
the addition of a Senior Services Programmer, a Fitness
Coordinator, an Aquatics Maintenance position, and a Facilities
Maintenance position.
• David Baril and David Dean presented the CIP budget items for the
golf course operations side and facilities side respectively. There
was a general review of the unusual golf hybrid organization (Golf
Course Superintendent and Head Golf Professional both reporting
directly to Parks and Recreation Director) and its needs as an
enterprise division within the city. Golf course capital needs are
funded out of operations and as such, the CIP is dependent on
having sufficient operating income. There was also discussion
about accelerating the the irrigation system programming to
accommodate the rerouting of the course.
• A subgroup of Kathy Martin, Tucker Brown, Rich Bradfield was
formed to develop a survey to assess user programming needs and
desires for the enlarged facilities. Ginger Cross, city Recreation and
Golf Marketing Specialist will assist in this effort. The subgroup's
first meeting will be March 5, 2018.
• The next meeting will be held March 19, 2018 at 6:30 P.M. at the
city's Coal Creek Golf Course clubhouse.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting
• City Marketing Communications
• CIP and Budget — Recreation and Senior Services
• Survey Questions
• Work Plan
03/14/18 Page 3 of 36
