Planning Commission
Meeting Minutes
December 14, 2017
ITEMS FROM STAFF
Demolition Updates
624 Pine Street
On January 25, 2018, Planning Staff and two HPC members reviewed a request to replace the
roof at 624 Pine Street. After deliberation, the HPC subcommittee decided to release the permit
because of the existing roofing material was not original.
Cyndi Thomas invited comments on the items from staff. None.
Upcoming Schedule
March
19th — Historic Preservation Commission Meeting, 6:30 p.m., Council Chambers
April
16th — Historic Preservation Commission meeting, 6:30 p.m., Council Chambers
May
4th — First Friday, 5-8 p.m., Museum
19th — Landmark Ceremony, TBD
21St— Historic Preservation Meeting, 6:30 p.m., Council Chambers
Trice stated that the Landmark Ceremony will be held on the 19th of May and will hopefully
involve the unveiling of interpretive signs.
UPDATES FROM COMMISSION MEMBERS
Cyndi Thomas asked for updates from commission members.
Dickinson stated that Louisville Live was hosting a live music event on Main Street on May 26th
to use historic areas for events such as live music events. The idea came from ideas at Saving
Places and thinking about how to use a downtown space as a community gathering area. The
idea was to hold live music semi-annually. The first event had 22 bands and the second had 18
bands. All the venues in Louisville have live music and there is no ticket cost.
ITEMS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR THE REGULAR MEETING MARCH 19, 2018
Interpretive Signs
Trice stated that staff and the applicant were still working on the proofs but they should be ready
by the next meeting.
Cyndi Thomas asked for an update on the historic contexts.
Trice stated that staff had the residential context was completed and staff was working on the
commercial one. She had planned on having a presentation on all three at once, when they
were all. She stated that the Commission could request to have a presentation on the residential
context first once it was complete.
Cyndi Thomas stated that she was eager to read it.
Trice stated that she could include it in the next packet, but she was hesitant to share it before
the formal presentation from PaleoWest Archaeological Consulting.
