The vision of this project is to establish an access plan for
pedestrian and bicycle improvements at key north/south connection points across South Boulder Road,
to improve pedestrian access to parks, open space, recreation and senior services, local trails, regional
trails, community gardens, commuter routes, schools, transit access and commercial areas, including
grocery stores.
Staff and Peer Reviewer Comments:
The need for the plan is compelling due to the lack of connectivity between north and south Louisville
and the safety issues caused with people crossing South Boulder Road with daily traffic counts between
17,000 and 27,000 vehicles.
The city has already moved forward with seeking funding sources for implementation including giving
confidence that the trail will be constructed swiftly once planning is complete.
The planned steps are thorough and detailed. There is no question as to what exactly will be produced
from this plan.
