Cultural Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />19 April 2018 <br />City Hall, Spruce Room <br />749 Main Street <br />6:30pm <br />I. Call to Order <br />II. Roll Call — Members present: Jennifer Strand, Mike Crowe, Leah Franks, Debbie Davies, <br />Blake Welch, Adam Sloat, Mark Cathcart, Sean Moynihan and Angie Layton <br />Members absent: Kate Ward <br />City Representatives present: Katie Zoss, Jeff Lipton <br />III. Attendance and Volunteer Hours Log were circulated <br />IV. Approval of Today's Agenda: all approved <br />V. Correction and/or Approval of March Meeting Minutes: unanimously approved <br />VI. Public Comments: none <br />VII. Public Art Proposal: <br />i. Katie reviewed public art policy <br />ii. All agreed Blake did not need to summarize Melody sculpture description since there <br />were no public comments and he presented this in March 2018 meeting; Katie will ask <br />city re: delivery of Melody statue and funds required for that. She will also reach out to <br />Kristi at Loveland Sculpture Park for advice on delivery. <br />iii. Public Comment: none <br />iv. Official vote to approve accepting the donation: all approved donation of Melody <br />sculpture <br />VIII. Chair's Report <br />IX. Treasurer's Report: Debbie summarized current funds and budget as attached <br />X. Staff report: <br />i. Katie submitted budget request (doubling programming funds, request for funds to <br />improve stage at Community Park and lighting/sound for Center for the Arts, increased <br />grant money, and increase public art funds). <br />ii. Discussed issue of capacity of Center for the Arts (108) and only 88 chairs available. <br />Katie has looked into purchasing 20 more chairs for use, but will need to troubleshoot <br />storage issue of additional chairs <br />iii. Katie will communicate on social media platforms and emails if performances are <br />close to selling out and that seating may be limited. Discussion re: how to handle sold - <br />out crowds so that audience is aware chairs may not be available. <br />XI. Public Art: Melody Sculpture press release and unveiling: Jennifer proposed creating a <br />statement paragraph or poem to summarize the theme of "elements". She has reached out to a <br />local poet who the LCC could commission to create the paragraph or poem for about $100-$200 <br />and this would be read aloud at the unveiling. Jennifer moved to authorize one hundred dollars <br />to commission Erin Robertson to create this. Mike seconded and all approved to commission <br />
