3 CITIZEN EMAILS ADDRESSED TO PPLAB
1.
From: Ben Buxton
Sent: Monday, May 14, 2018 6:10 PM
To: Dean Johnson
Subject: 650 W Chestnut - Landscape at Madison/Cherry
To: Parks & Public Landscaping Board
From: Ben Buxton, 650 W Chestnut CT
I am writing in regards to a concern and a request I have regarding landscaping at the corner of
my home at 650 W Chestnut CT (at the NW comer of Cherry St. And Madison Ave.)
I recently met with Dean Johnson to review and discuss options for this property that has fallen
into disrepair with respect to the landscaping at this corner. It appears the original landscaping
was likely put in place by the builder back when the neighborhood was built in the early 1980's.
Being a recent owner, I am now trying to determine options for how to improve the appearance
of this corner, which is now overgrown with weeds and dead shrubbery. Unfortunately, there is
no HOA for my neighborhood and therefore no professional maintenance has been performed on
this corner since I've owned the property during the past two years. While, I have done basic
maintenance, it clearly needs to be cleared and re -landscaped.
To that end, I wanted to inquire to see if this is an issue that the board would consider discussing
on their agenda in the near term. In speaking with Dean, he indicated that this is a concern in
many locations similar to mine throughout Louisville and my hope is that the city would
consider taking on the project to re -landscape.
Please let me know if that is of interest and if so, how best to proceed. I am attaching a few
photos of the corner to give a better description of the current state of this corner landscaping.
Sincerely, Ben Buxton
