What type of feedback is City Council most interested in hearing from the <br />Planning Commission regarding the development review process? <br />2. What should be the highest priorities from a development or design perspective <br />for the Planning Commission in their review? <br />3. What perspectives of the City Council is the Planning Commission interested in <br />hearing to help guide decision making? <br />Members discussed the interviewing process for appointing members and how Council <br />would like to use that process to better understand applicants' motivation for serving. <br />Council noted they depend on the Planning Commission to do the technical work on the <br />applications before they come to Council. <br />Mayor Muckle noted it is important for the Commission to understand neighborhood <br />character and compatibility in their process. <br />Council members noted Council puts a lot of weight into the decisions on the Planning <br />Commission and they see the Planning Commission is making very informed decisions. <br />This helps frame the decisions for the Council. <br />Councilmember Stolzmann stated she likes to know why members feel an application <br />meets or does not meet the criteria on applications. <br />Members discussed how they think they get better applications in the process by <br />allowing staff more ability to negotiate with applicants. <br />Members discussed the importance of interpreting the criteria, guidelines, and <br />standards in the planning documents. <br />Members discussed how public benefit is weighed in the process. <br />Planning Commission members asked how best to let Council know of policy and work <br />plan items they would like Council to address. <br />Members discussed how parking impacts various projects differently. <br />Members discussed how sustainability could or should be included in the land use <br />process. <br />Members discussed the upcoming Transportation Master Plan. <br />Adjourn 9:14 pm. <br />Submitted by — Meredyth Muth <br />June 14, 2018 <br />
