Revitalization Commission Minutes May 14, 2018 Page 2of4 Reports of Commission Commissioner Menaker mentioned an article in the paper referencing a real- estate consultant study on the old Sam's Club building. Discussed further below under "McCaslin Area Development Study Update." Business Matters of Commission DELO Update Justin McClure discussed the commercial piece and they have sufficient funds to complete improvements, but have asked for a deferral of private landscaping improvements. Though not a significant amount, there is a retention wall inhibiting the drainage and sidewalk improvements which will provide pedestrian access. McClure paid for a traffic study in an effort to help expedite the signal at Short Street and should have this report soon. Commissioner Menaker asked about the completion of the project. Had heard there was an issue with the former East Lafayette right of way. He encouraged staff to investigate the issue, and whether a letter is needed from the LRC to help with seeking a solution. Parking Structure RFP Update Economic Development Director DeJong addressed the updated Parking Structure RFP stating there were 8 groups that showed up at the volunteer meeting and he is expecting several proposals back by May 18, 2018. Interviews will be conducted the week of the 29th. Commissioners Gorsevski and Dalton volunteered to help with this process. McCaslin Area Development Study Update Commissioner Menaker would like to see a public outreach to appropriately notify residents and businesses as to the reality of the issues at hand including covenant constraints, and wants to move forward on developing this site to possibly include the Kohl's site. Commissioner Dalton would also like to move forward; however, feels the process needs to continue with the City before involving the public by getting results of the study first and then revisiting the potential notification. Commissioner Gorsevski requested a sketch, drawing or map of the area in question, commenting this area has been vacant for a long time and needs to be done correctly from the beginning. City Manager Balser mentioned the market study and constraints on the site need to be conducted first in order to obtain the data needed to move forward.
