July Minutes Continued
Ember Brignull
From: Jim Gibb 46101110.01111410.
Sent: Wednesday, July 11, 2018 10:07 AM
To: Laura Scott Denton
Cc: 06111110011110115ft Ember Brignull
Subject: July OSAB meeting
Laura,
I will be unable to attend the meeting tonight due to a family visit to Illinois. Here are a few of my thoughts. l apologize
for the delay getting this to you and would be grateful if you would include this in your discussion tonight as appropriate
1. Trails: Jim's suggested trail priorities in order:
i. Avista trail
ii. Cottonwood Park trail realignment
iii. Callahan perimeter trail
iv. West Hackberry connector to NW Warembourg
v. S.Tyler Connector to W. Warembourg
vi. Overlook underpass to Mayhoffer Singletree Trail
vii. ADA Friendly reroute of Coal Creek at Aquarius
viii. 104th Street trail
ix. Coal Creek Trail to Ascent property (might be good to pursue the right
of way for future consideration) I'm uncertain about the elevation.
x. SE/NW Trail across Warembourg Open Space
xi. McCaslin to Davidson Mesa
xii. Police station to Davidson Mesa
xiii. Powerline to West Dahlia
xiv. Enclave Connector Davidson Mesa
2. Thanks to Fiona and Mike for their great work pulling together the dog park comparative summary and
recommendations. Very well done. I really don't have any suggestions, assuming that the intent is to create
standards for new DOLAs. Whatever can be done to implement new DOLAs that will lesson impact on the
Davidson Mesa DOLA is god with me. That said, as we all know, the Davidson Mesa DOLA would be in violation
of many of Fiona and Mikes' recommendations. Consequently, we need to consider implementation of a least a
couple of changes at Davidson Mesa including but not limited to:
a. Installing a water station to eliminate the plethora of empty plastic containers. (I put four more in the
recycle bin yesterday).
b. Consider sectioning the DOLA and rotate usage.
c. Consider closure, 2 to 3 days per week to "rest" the Davidson Mesa DOLA
d. More aggressive closures after significant rainfall or snowmelt
3. OSAB Goals: Below is what Ember and I worked on a couple of months ago. I'll let Ember weigh in on what of
this is still relevant. Given that I'm now retired, I will have more time to advocate for, assist with these proposed
action items.
Draft 2018 OSAB Action Items: Resource Management 1,2
1. Advocate for Open Space Sr. Resource Specialist
a. Develop a need statement
b. Communicate with City Council
2. Actively assist with development and testing of trail map survey
a. Help gather baseline data
1
7
