Revitalization Commission
Minutes
July 30, 2018
Page2of2
None
Reports of Commission
Business Matters of Commission
Parking Structure Conceptual Design
Representatives from Desman Associates presented two basic parking garage
designs with the idea this structure will serve the city for the next 50 years or more.
The structures would include at least 225-250 parking spots, and ideally, the parking
spots would be 9' wide spaces with each level at 12-14' in height from floor to floor.
Desman also presented pros/cons for each structure, parking efficiency, natural
lighting, flat -floor parking, future paid parking, EV charging stations, pedestrian
connection from Main Street to Front Street, leaving access to the alley or closing it
off, and future development off Elm Street. Their presentation included a North/South
basic concept and an East/West basic concept. This is just an initial phase of structure
ideas and structures that will fit the layout of the area.
LRC will try to find a late August date for a special meeting to discuss new design
alternatives. Concepts will be selected at the meeting to be shown at a public meeting
for input in September.
Discussion Items for August 13, 2018 Meeting
• DeJong will send out over email dates to consider for a Parking structure
special meeting in late August
• For 8/13, begin 2019 LRC Budget Discussion
• Potential discussion with DBA representatives
Commissioners Comments:
None
Adjourn:
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 am.
