JOINT STUDY SESSION
Minutes
July 6, 2018
Page2of2
Superior provided an overview of their downtown development: A Superior Medical
Center; Sport Stable; Downtown Superior residential (townhomes and single-family
homes); Element by Westin hotel; Discovery residential (duplex units); TESLA;
roundabout art project; Village Green park; Coal Creek improvements; Toll Brothers
residential concept plan; and Main Street mixed -use concept plan.
Library — Data shared regarding library utilization and programming. Interest in having
more outreach in Superior. Director Campbell explained the staff limitations for
outreach and only extending to schools for now. Superior would like Lynda program (to
explain to residents how to use Lynda) and other programs in Superior.
McCaslin area development — Question regarding status of Phillips 66 and if/when that
might move forward. Director DeJong provided status update, general information
regarding Bancroft negotiations with P66.
Transportation Master Plan — Update on plan and process. Questions about Campus
Drive, 88th St. progress? Have we thought about our TIP projects yet? City has not
identified priorities yet — will have discussion at staff level.
Recreation Facilities — Superior is considering a ballot issue for a recreation center.
Shared concepts of the facility, attached to Sports Stable. Possible they will go to
voters this year — looking at .25% sales and 1.5 mils, or possibly all property or all
sales tax. Uncertain right now. Asked about offering reduced fees at each other's
centers — could discuss further down the road.
Broadband — Louisville shared timeline and process, and Superior is interested in
talking about the possibility of collaborating once the study is complete. Louisville will
meet with Superior and consultant as part of process. Superior has been thinking
about putting something on the ballot this year, but don't have anything developed.
RM Airport — Superior has one navigation agreement between the Rock Creek homes
development from 25 years ago, but they have not had much leverage with airport
regarding their concerns. They are working to schedule a meeting in
August/September, and will invite Louisville to the meeting.
Other issues -
- Request to invite Superior to Louisville grand opening and the incremental
openings and celebration of Recreation Center openings.
- Request to include in the Library Director recruitment process something about
fundraising, and make sure to mention this director needs to collaborate with
Superior.
Adjourn:
The meeting adjourned at approximately 9:15 am
