Recreation Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />July 23, 2018 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Recreation Staff Update and Construction Update <br />• Construction moving along. <br />• RAB may possibly tour new spaces at 8/27/2018 meeting. <br />• June 2018 Hail Storm Impacts <br />o Existing Rec Center metal roof will be replaced <br />o Vinyl roof was pierced, underlying insulation is being assessed <br />• These will be coordinated with construction <br />o New construction roof may need to be replaced <br />• New Positions <br />o Two days for Job Fairs for hiring new staff in October <br />o Facilities position has been posted, 10 applicants now <br />o Fitness Coordinator position will be posted forthwith <br />Golf Course Update <br />• David Baril - operations update <br />o Record month for cafe <br />o RAB should review Golf Course strategic plan October or later <br />o Golf course revenues are ahead of budget through the second <br />quarter. Membership and lesson revenues are particularly strong. <br />• David Dean - maintenance update <br />o Staffing is a challenge due to seasonal nature of positions <br />• Summer season staffing less of a problem <br />• Very difficult to fill nine month per year positions <br />o The standing water under the Dillon Road underpass requires a <br />sump pump to eliminate this problem. The standing water is <br />caused by the high water table in the area and is a constant issue <br />for all golfers. <br />o Discussion around condition of the course, specifically the bunkers <br />and greens; also discussed the cause of the pond issue on #7 <br />(algae bloom which caused death of fish). David explained the <br />steps being taken to remedy the bunkers (gravel rising to the <br />surface); solution appears to be successful and may be <br />implemented in other bunkers. <br />Branding Discussion <br />• There will be no new logo for the Rec Center. <br />• Working on a tagline <br />o Current ideas are: <br />• "Something for Everyone" <br />• "Something for Everybody" <br />• "A Great Place to Be" <br />• Creating Branding Subcommittee <br />o Audrey DeBarros and Rich Bradfield <br />
