Enhance and protect Louisville's quality of life and community image through clearly articulated <br />industrial and commercial development design goals and policies, design guidelines and <br />minimum design standards. <br />2. Protect and promote Louisville's long-term economic vitality through industrial and commercial <br />design standards which encourage and reward high quality development, while discouraging less <br />attractive and less enduring alternatives. <br />3. Minimize adverse impacts of vehicular circulation to existing neighborhoods and to the <br />surrounding physical environment. <br />4 Enhance and protect the security and health, safety and welfare of all residents of the City. <br />Desirable Elements of Industrial Project Design <br />1. Prominent access driveways with clear visibility of entrances. <br />2. Multi -model transportation. <br />3. Controlled site access <br />4. Landscaped and screened parking and loading and service areas. <br />5. Service areas located at the rear of buildings. <br />6. Quality exterior building materials, surfaces, and textures. <br />7. Significant landscape, streetscape and hardscape elements. <br />8. Placement of structures that creates opportunities for plazas, courtyards, or gardens/patio areas <br />which can be utilized as pedestrian gathering places and common employee gathering areas with <br />appropriate site furniture and lighting. <br />9. A variety of architectural design treatments, including articulated building footprints to reduce <br />massing and to promote architectural definition and interest. <br />10. Preservation of natural site features. <br />11 Enhancement of view corridors to open areas and mountain vistas. <br />12. Support services to industrial development such as child care accessory to a large corporate <br />campus... <br />13. Site design and improvements should anticipate the potential re -use of the building for other <br />purposes. <br />14. Quality architectural designs and building materials should be incorporated into industrial <br />projects. <br />15. The appearance of both the building and the site landscaping should have a strong emphasis <br />toward public street views, incorporating a concept that emphasizes the `public zone'. <br />Desirable Elements of Commercial Project Design <br />1.
