11: City,/ <br />im Louisville <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM 2B <br />SUBJECT: <br />DATE: <br />RECREATION AND SENIOR CENTER 2019 FEES PROPOSAL <br />OCTOBER 12, 2018 <br />PRESENTED BY: KATHY MARTIN, RECREATION SUPERINTENDENT <br />SUMMARY: <br />The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Council on the Recreation Center <br />and Senior Center proposed fees for 2019. At the October 4 meeting, staff presented <br />fees that included a $5 increase in monthly memberships and $1 increase in daily <br />admission revenues. These fees were used as the basis for the revenue assumptions <br />in the Recreation Fund presented in the 2019/2020 budget process. <br />Background <br />Recreation and Senior Services staff, vetted and supported through the Recreation <br />Advisory Board (RAB), recommended the attached fee changes for the new Recreation <br />I Senior Center beginning on January 1, 2019. These fees were presented to City <br />Council on October 4th, 2018. Staff and RAB took into consideration the following <br />factors: <br />• Resident admission fees have not been raised since 2010 <br />• Non -Resident fees were raised in 2017; <br />• Greenplay feasibility study recommended a fee increase; <br />• Remodeled and expanded facility offers new opportunities; and <br />• Proposed fees are reflective of the market (benchmark fee comparisons <br />attached). <br />Based on City Council direction, staff is presenting additional fee options for the <br />Recreation and Senior Center beginning in January 2019. The finance sub -committee of <br />the RAB met on October 8th to establish additional options for City Council to consider. <br />Updated Information Since the October 4th Budget Discussion: <br />Staff has updated the benchmarking to include the Lafayette YMCA, Sports Stable, and <br />Lifetime Fitness. <br />Attached are some additional options for fee increases for City Council to consider. <br />These options include: <br />Daily Admission <br />The attached fee options include current fees, October 4th proposed fees, Greenplay <br />proposed fees, and a $3 increase per visit and a $4 increase per visit. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />15 <br />
