Youth Advisory Board Minutes 9/6/18 Page 2 of 2 IX. Volunteer projects for the upcoming year: We went over the monthly events that we do annually, and talked about ideas for months that were unplanned (October and January). Addie will look into volunteering at There with Care, and Bruce will check with A Precious Child. • Oct. — open • Nov. — Community Food Share • Dec. — Pancakes with Santa (12/6) • Jan. — open • Feb. — Tulip Twist • Mar. — St. Patty's Day Senior Dinner • Apr. — Soup Kitchen X. Goals for the upcoming year: We discussed some of the yearly goals we've worked toward in the past and considered ideas for this year. We did not make a final decision, but we narrowed it down to two potential options: • A Dear Louisville book (potentially to donate to the History Foundation to help them raise funds for the new museum building) • A project related to alternative transportation, potentially something to help promote RTD's local Call-n-Ride service. We also talked about our monthly visits from other board and commissions. We agreed that we'd like these to continue, and also agreed to allow members from other departments (such as PD, Public Works, etc.) to teach us about their roles in the City as well. XI. Teambuilding: We played a name game, and a bingo style getting to know you game. XII. Nominations, speeches and officer elections: • Chair - Kaylix ran unopposed and won. • Vice Chair — Addie and Brooke both ran, Addie won the vote. • Secretary — Brooke ran unopposed and won. XIII. Discussion Items for Next Meeting: • Figure out volunteer projects for October and January. • Think about ideas for programs (especially teen programs) at the new Rec Center. • Think about what we should do for the yearly project so we can make our final decision. XIV. Comments from Liaisons: Mandy reminded us that the new West Wing of the Rec Center is opening on 9/10. Jay encouraged us to check out Meet the Mayor at the History Museum on Saturday 9/8 at 9am, as well as the Transportation Master Plan discussion at City Hall on Monday, 9/10 from 6-8pm. XV.
