La <br />Cityof <br />Louisville <br />PARKS & RECREATION <br />Memorandum <br />To: Open Space Advisory Board <br />From: Ember Brignull, Open Space Manager <br />Date: October 10, 2018 <br />Re: Staff Update <br />General: <br />• Legal Committee reviewed and requested revision to the proposed Municipal <br />Code updates for the Parks and Open Space Titles. Revisions will likely be going <br />back to Legal Committee for a final review in October. The City Council process <br />will be scheduled once Legal Committee has completed their review. <br />• Scope of work for Open Space Zoning, specific to Lake Park Open Space and <br />Walnut Open Space, will likely be going to City Council for direction before <br />proceeding. <br />• A contractor has been hired to conduct vegetation surveys on the western <br />section of Davidson Mesa for pre and post 2019 prescribed fire monitoring. <br />• A contractor has been hired to complete a camera scope to check the <br />Warembourg fishing pond outlet for potential leaks. <br />• Staff continues to document and report damage to Open Space caused by the <br />Comcast project. <br />• Encroachment campaign continues. Ward Two will be reviewed for compliance <br />in early October and Rangers will continue to work with citizens on a case by <br />case basis. <br />• Russian olive tree and sprout mapping and removal currently taking place. <br />• Staff is reviewing cost estimates for interpretive panel installation at Hecla Lake <br />bird blind. <br />• Staff will be presenting programs for an after school Science Program at the <br />Louisville Elementary School in November. <br />• Staff starting discussion regarding 2019 Education Programs and reaching out to <br />other Departments. Thoughts will be presented to OSAB in quarter one of 2019. <br />Education: <br />Past: <br />• Walkin' and Talkin' with the Mayor 9/22: Davidson Mesa Resource Management <br />• First day of fall bike ride 9/22 <br />
