Youth Advisory Board Meeting Minutes 10/4/18 Page 2of2 Volunteer Projects • October o Updates from Bruce — Bruce presented a volunteer idea through A Precious Child where the board members would assist in a winter clothing drive by collecting donations around the town. Another possible project would be sorting clothes at their donation center. A third idea was to help put together race packets for the upcoming Broomfield Marathon at A Precious Child. o Updates from Addie — Addie talked about There With Care which is an organization that helps families and children facing critical illnesses. Possible volunteer projects include putting together gifts, making blankets, bringing children food, and visiting kids in the hospital. o Jessica presented an idea for a volunteer project where the board would work with Passing Hats to make hats for people going though chemotherapy. Ideas for new Rec Center programs — Ideas that were suggested include: a kahoot quiz game competition, a monthly movie night, crafting/tie-dyeing, origami, bath bomb making, quizlet live competition, water polo, yoga classes, water volleyball, life -coaching classes, college application classes, money finance classes. Meeting Snacks — Mandy discussed the snack sign up. There will be a sign up sent to the board soon for members to sign up to bring snacks and drinks to the meeting. Year -Long Project — The board discussed the two ideas for the board's year- long project. The first idea is a transportation project and the second is a new Dear Louisville book. The board members then discussed the pros and cons of each project. From there, the board decided to work on the transportation as the year -long project. Discussion Items for Next Meeting- • Talk more about the steps for the transportation program • Check emails for updates on volunteer projects and snack sign ups Comments from Liaisons — Mandy talked about the job fair that will take place at the rec center on the 5th and 20th of October.
