For 556 Lincoln, there is the added complication that the County gives two different dates of
construction. The County Assessor website gives 1920 as the date of construction, but the
County Assessor card for 556 Lincoln that was filled out in 1948 gives 1900 as the date of
construction (although the handwriting could be interpreted as indicating the year 1906).
In 1895, two years following John Connell's platting of the Acme Place subdivision, Connell sold
the lots at what would become 556 Lincoln to Natal Camozzi. The available evidence indicates
that the house was constructed by 1900, and it is possible that it was even constructed before
1900. This is because Natal Camozzi, who purchased the lots from the developer, did so in
1895, and he had a family to house and did not own any other real property.
Natal Camozzi, whose name was sometimes spelled in the records as Comozzi and Comozzie, is
shown in the 1900 census records as living in the vicinity of Lincoln Ave with his family, who
consisted of his wife, Maggie, 29; Frank, age 10; Eddie, age 9; Ida, age, 1; and Peter Camozzi, his
brother, age 29. Natal was a coal miner at the time and is listed as owning his house. It is
relevant that Boulder County property records indicate that he didn't own any other property.
Also, the house is shown in the correct location on the 1909 Drumm's Wall Map of Louisville,
indicating that it was constructed before 1909.
For these reasons, the year of construction is believed to have mostly likely been circa 1895-
1900, and the year of 1920 given on the County website might have been intended to refer to
the year of a later remodel or addition.
Natal Camozzi was born in 1843 in Switzerland, of Swiss and Italian parents. He immigrated to
the U.S. in the 1880s and married Marguerite or Margaret ("Maggie") Bodhaine in Boulder
County in 1888. She had been born in France in 1870. As noted above, they lived in the home
with their children and Natal's brother. Directories show that the Camozzis operated a saloon
believed to be located at Walnut and Front in Louisville from around 1904 until at least 1909.
Sirokman Family Ownership and Residency, 1903-1952
County property records show that in 1903, John Sirokman purchased the house at 556 Lincoln
from the Camozzi family.
John Sirokman was born in Zaluzice, Slovakia in 1862 and was one of several members of the
Sirokman family to immigrate to the U.S. and settle in Louisville. He immigrated in about 1880
and in about 1886 married Nancy Morgan, who had been born in Alabama in about 1868.
Records indicate that the family was associated with 556 Lincoln for close to 50 years. The 1904
directory identifies John and Nancy "Sireochman" as living on "Lincoln btw. Pine & Hutchinson,"
which is a correct description of the location of 556 Lincoln. While the 1910 census record could
not be found for this family, the 1920, 1930, and 1940 census records do place them in this
