(age 9), and Betty (age 2). They had more children after moving to a house on Main Street at
around the time that they sold 1034 La Farge.
Lewis Rosser was born in Wyoming and reportedly moved to Colorado with his parents and
siblings while still a boy. Katherine Dionigi Rosser was born in Louisville to parents who had
come from Italy. Lewis Rosser worked as a coal miner.
Jones Family Ownership, 1932-1946
In 1932, John R. Jones (1883-1941) and Ledoskey Beard Jones (1891-1987) purchased 1034 La
Farge. In 1941, John transferred ownership to Ledoskey Jones and passed away that year. They
had two children, Norman and John.
The 1936 directory for Louisville shows that the family was living at 1034 La Farge under its
previous address of 535 La Farge. (Louisville addresses changed in the late 1930s.) John R. Jones
was working as a miner. It is believed that the house was rented out during part of their
ownership, as they do not appear as residents in other directories during the relevant period.
Thompson Family Ownership, 1946-1978
In 1946, Hylda Miller Thompson (1890-1977) purchased 1034 La Farge and it became the home
of her and her husband, George Thompson (1887-1962). George had grown up in Louisville as
the son of a mining engineer, and became a miner himself. Hylda Miller was from South Dakota.
Their children were George C. Thompson (1915-1998) and Arthur S. Thompson (1920-1981).
There is some indication in the census records that the family may have rented 1034 La Farge
before they owned it, but this could not be verified.
The following images show the photo and ground layout from the Boulder County Assessor card
dated 1948:
4
