Earlier owners of this <br />parcel, before the current house was built, included Nellie lannacito and the members of the Jannucci <br />family. <br />Victor Caranci purchased this property in 1951 and constructed the house. He also resided in the house <br />with his wife, Ida. <br />Boulder County gives 1956 as the date of construction of 1117 La Farge. It is possible that the house was <br />not finally completed until that year, but the 1952-53 directory lists Victor Caranci as already residing at <br />1117 La Farge with a telephone number for that address, and the first notations on the County Assessor <br />card are dated 1952. A notation on the reverse stated that "This House not completed as yet — 3-26-52." <br />Directories show that the Caranci lived in the house in the 1950s and 1960s. Vic Caranci worked as an <br />excavating contractor for at least part of that time. <br />Vic Caranci was born in 1918 to Carl and Jennie Caranci at the home of his grandparents on Main Street <br />in Louisville. Vic's siblings were Elaine, Lillian, and Ray Caranci. In 1930, the family moved to Colorado <br />Springs. In 1942, Vic Caranci married Ida Benzing of Colorado Springs. They had one son, Victor Caranci <br />Jr. Ida Caranci passed away in 1999. <br />Some current residents have stated that they recall that part or all of the house may have been rented <br />out by the Carancis. However, no official documentation of renters was found. <br />Vic Caranci has primarily worked as a contractor, and he is credited with developing the Ponderosa <br />subdivision in Louisville with his son. He has also been an accomplished musician who was one of a few <br />
