L
City0r
Louisville
COLORADO • SINCE 187E
1125 La Farge Ave. History
Legal Description: Lot 7 less 2 feet, and Lots 8 & 9, Block 3, Barclay Place
Year of Construction: circa 1914-1926
Summary: This was the home of Italian -born siblings Ernesto Jannucci and Cleonice Jannucci,
then Anthony and Amelia La Salle, for a combined 95 years.
Louisville Historical Museum
Department of Library & Museum Services
City of Louisville, Colorado
July 2017
Development of Barclay Place
The Colorado Mortgage and Investment Co., Limited, a corporation organized under the laws of
Great Britain and doing business in Colorado, in 1897 platted the Barclay Place subdivision in
which this property is located.
Schreiter Montgomery Ownership, 1906-1918 (12 years); Date of Construction
Marie Schreiter (1888-1963), who was from a Louisville -area German farming family, purchased Lots 5,
6, 7, 8, and 9 in 1906 from the developers of the subdivision. She appears to have been just 18 at the
time. In 1910, she married Clark Montgomery and become Marie Montgomery. She and her husband
and children lived in Canfield and are not known to have lived at 1125 La Farge.
The 1948 Boulder County Assessor card for this property and the Boulder County Assessor's
Office website both give 1908 as the date of construction of this house. Boulder County has
sometimes been found to be in error with respect to the date of construction of Louisville
buildings, so other evidence is looked to. The Boulder County Assessor card from 1948 appears
to have been the origin of the "1908" construction date, but this appears to have been based in
part on an error, as the card states that the house was 45 years old in 1948, but also states that
it was built in 1908.
In this case, the 1908 date does not appear to be accurate, as the house does not show being
located on the lots in question on the 1909 Drumm's Wall Map of Louisville. Also, a 1914
contract to purchase the lots appears to indicate that there was not yet a house on the
1
