This aerial view of Louisville from 1962 was cropped to show the property at 1008
Jefferson, at left center in this image:
Jim Fenolia died in 1971. Celia Fenolia continued to live in the house for many years. She
died in 1988.
Later Owners
Following the death of Celia Fenolia in 1988, her estate sold 1008 Jefferson to Joel W.
Demby. In 1992, Maureen Demby joined as owner. Also in 1992, the Dembys sold 1008
Jefferson to Brian and Kari Duffy. They sold the property in 1995 to Frank and Vera
Klein. They in turn sold it the following year to Laurie Soper. In 1999, Soper sold 1008
Jefferson to David Buffer.
David Buffer owned 1008 Jefferson from 1999 to 2011. It is believed that it was during
his ownership that an addition was added to the back of the house. In 2010, the
Louisville Historic Preservation Commission selected David Buffer and 1008 Jefferson to
be awarded a Preservation Award of Merit by the City of Louisville for "Historically
Sensitive Addition."
Karen Crist purchased 1008 Jefferson in 2011 and sold it in 2018. As of March 2018, the
new owners are Erika Jeanette McNeany and Scott Turkow.
Sources
The preceding research is based on a review of relevant and available online County property records,
census records, oral history interviews, and related resources, and Louisville directories, newspaper
articles, maps, files, obituary records, survey records, and historical photographs from the collection of
the Louisville Historical Museum.
8
