Statement of Significance
This house was historically significant, relative to National Register Criterion A, for its association with residential
development in Louisville in the late 1800s, and during the first half of the twentieth century. The house was
architecturally significant as well, under National Register Criterion C, as an example of a wood frame front gabled
dwelling. Due to a rather substantial loss of integrity, however, the property should be considered ineligible for
individual listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
43. Assessment of historic physical integrity related to significance:
This house's historical integrity has been impacted by a large addition to the east elevation in 1951. The building's
integrity was affected even more dramatically in 1981, when part of the dwelling was converted into a beauty
parlor. At that time, the house was resided, several window openings were changed, and the wrought iron front
porch posts were put up. Built in 1951, the garage is not quite fifty years old, and is also ineligible for National
Register listing.
