General Architectural Description <br />This modest wood -frame commercial building features a <br />rectangular plan, and is supported by a low concrete <br />foundation. The exterior walls are cladded with narrow <br />horizontal wood siding, although the north elevation wall has <br />been covered with non -historic vertical wood siding. The <br />roof is a moderately -pitched front gable, with grey asphalt <br />shingles and boxed eaves. One red brick chimney is <br />located on the exterior of the west elevation. The building <br />has a false -front facade, with a gabled pediment, which <br />fronts toward the sidewalk along Main Street, on the east <br />elevation. The facade is symmetrical, with a centered <br />recessed entryway. Within the entryway, a glass -in -wood - <br />frame door, and two flanking sidelights, are topped by three <br />frosted glass transom lights. The recessed entry opens onto <br />a 3-step concrete porch, flanked by black wrought iron <br />railings. Two wood benches are located on a small concrete <br />patio which extends to the sidewalk along Main Street. Two <br />large fixed -pane storefront windows, with frosted glass <br />transom lights, flank the front entrance. A painted white <br />solid wood door, opens onto a concrete sidewalk, at the far <br />west end of the south elevation. A historic entry door, on <br />the building's west (rear) elevation, has been filled in. One <br />single -light window is located on the west elevation. <br />29.Construction History (include description and dates of major additions, <br />alterations, or demolitions: <br />This building was constructed in 1905 for use as a doctor's <br />office by Dr. Charles F. Wolfer who lived in the house next <br />door to the south. There have been no additions, and only <br />minimal exterior alterations, subsequent to the original <br />construction. <br />23.
