Intermediate use(s): Single Dwelling
33. Current use(s): Single Dwelling
34. Site type(s): Residence
35. Historical Background
This lot was originally developed before 1893, and the residence here has served as a single-family dwelling since
that time. Although the home's original and early owners are unknown, there is a good chance that some members
of their families were employed at area coal mines. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Louisville's economy
was based, to a great extent, on the area's coal industry. As a result, the livelihoods of most of the community's
inhabitants were directly, or indirectly, dependent on coal.
From the mid-1930s (and perhaps earlier) through at least 1956, this property was owned by Albert and Rose
Hoffmire, and by Lorene Pitchford. They apparently did not live here, though. Albert Hoffmire was a coal miner.
In 1951, LaVerne and Wilma Thirlaway were living in this house. The Thirlaways were long-time Louisville family
who had been engaged as miners, merchants, and bankers during the first half of the twentieth century. In 1959,
this was the residence of Alvin and Murle Pierce. The property was vacant during the late 1960s and early 1970s,
but was the residence of John B. Guerra in 1975. In the early 1980s, Bruce Mounsey owned and lived here.
Mounsey sold the property to its current owners, Jeff and Nona Nading, in 1986. Jeff works as a land surveyor.
Nona works part time as an office manager, and as a child care provider.
36.
