General Architectural Description <br />This building is a modest -scale wood -frame dwelling, located <br />on the north side of Spruce Street, just to the west of <br />downtown Louisville. The house is supported by a low <br />concrete foundation, and its exterior walls are cladded with <br />green undulated asbestos shingle siding. The roof has <br />intersecting gables, and is covered with red asphalt shingles <br />and boxed eaves. There are no chimneys. One non -historic <br />single -light fixed -pane window is located on the facade. <br />Windows elsewhere are primarily 1/1 double -hung sash, with <br />painted white wood frames and surrounds, and with <br />aluminum screens. A small, enclosed gabled entry porch is <br />located on the facade (south elevation). A painted white <br />wood -paneled door, with three upper sash lights, and with <br />a wood screen door, enters the porch on its east end. A <br />secondary entrance is located on the house's north elevation. <br />Here, a painted white wood -paneled door, with a wood <br />screen door, opens onto a concrete stoop between the house <br />and garage. <br />The house is connected to a Garage, by a short wall, with <br />a narrow, painted white glass -in -wood -frame door. Located <br />northeast of the house, the garage is a wood -frame structure <br />supported by a concrete foundation. It has a concrete slab <br />foundation and floor, green undulated asbestos shingle <br />siding, and a moderately -pitched front gable roof, with red <br />asphalt shingles, and boxed eaves. Three -light hopper <br />windows, with painted white wood frames and surrounds, are <br />located on the garage's east and west elevations. Paired, <br />painted white, plywood and lx wood doors, side hinged with <br />metal strap hinges, open toward the alley on the east <br />elevation. <br />29.Construction History (include description and dates of major additions, <br />alterations, or demolitions: <br />Boulder County Assessor records list this building's date of <br />construction as 1900. Sanborn insurance maps document <br />that it was built sometime between 1900 and 1908. The <br />garage does not appear on the 1908 Sanborn map, but it <br />does appear to date from the period of significance. <br />23.
