General Architectural Description <br />The residence at 1037 Walnut Street is a one-story, wood - <br />frame, dwelling which exhibits characteristics of the <br />Bungalow style of architecture. The building is supported <br />by a concrete foundation, and there is at least a partial <br />basement. A flight of twelve concrete steps, on the north <br />elevation, descend to a painted white solid wood basement - <br />level door. The house's exterior walls are painted white <br />horizontal weatherboard, and horizontal wood siding. The <br />roof is a low-pitched front gable, with green asphalt <br />shingles, and exposed rafter ends. There are no chimneys. <br />With one exception, the house's windows are entirely non - <br />original lxl horizontal sliders. The one exception is a glass <br />block window on the north elevation. A large gabled porch <br />extends the full length of the original facade, on the south <br />elevation. The porch has a concrete floor, and wood frame <br />half walls and 4" by 4" wood posts, which support the <br />gabled porch roof. A white metal storm door is located at <br />the porch's exterior, while a stained natural brown solid <br />wood door leads from the porch into the house's interior. A note on the real estate appraisal card <br />for the property notes that a bathroom was added in 1958. <br />23.
