Resource Number: 5BL 11322
Temporary Resource Number: 157508406005
Joseph Dravecky was born in Illinois in 1895 and came to Louisville in 1901. He worked on the farm operated by his
parents just outside of Louisville. He also worked as a coal miner. From 1947 until 1963, he and Josephine operated
Dravecky's service station in the 800 block of Main Street. He died in 1983. Josephine died in 1986.
Josephine Guenzi Dravecky and Joseph Dravecky resided at 677 Walnut from 1974 until their deaths. For many of
these years, they lived next to Josephine's sisters, Palmira and Julia, who still resided at 913 Jefferson. The current
owner is still their daughter, Jo Louise Dravecky Michaels. It is believed to be a rental at this time.
The Spring 2005 issue of The Louisville Historian referred to an exceptionally old apple tree, a forty -foot tall
specimen that is in the yard of 677 Walnut. Louisville's City Forester, Chris Lichty, stated for the article that he had
never seen an apple tree so large. It can be speculated that it dates back to when the Dierden family owned this
property.
36.
