Housing-Walt Oehlkers and Bob Pierce <br />Walt reported on a Planning Meeting on housing held in Lafayette recently <br />to discuss a proposal for senior and low-cast housing on 7 acres. There was a <br />large audience and several citizens asked to speak. One speaker pointed out <br />the seniors would like a place to call their awn that was safe and promoted their <br />independence. Others spoke of inadequate parking at the side and a need for a <br />community mix rather than a separate area. <br />Bob and Walt plan to attend a Louisville Housing Authority meeting at 8AM on <br />January 27 to emphasize the need for a city ordinance promoting the idea that <br />any future developments include some senior friendly housing. <br />B. <br />Social and Civic Engagement <br />Programs-Linda Jackson <br />The current Seniors Highlights contains <br />programming through February. <br />Ideas for <br />spring activities have been selected by the Programs committee. <br />C, Physical and Mental .Health -Carol PurFurst <br />Our focus group was honored at the Create Our Future luncheon in <br />Longmont on <br />November 7 for our facilities survey and the dance group. itatie Beasley <br />connected <br />us with a square dance caller at this event who came to a dance session <br />in December. He <br />may be available for fu#ure activities or classes at the Senior Center. <br />Members selected a <br />bulletin board to order for the Senior Center, an item on the facilities <br />survey. <br />Unfinished Business: <br />A. Annual Meeting in November <br />Bob suggested ,that we emphasize that only Louisville Seniors are <br />eligible to vote in the elections, although seniors from other areas may attend <br />the luncheon <br />B. Introduction of New Members <br />New Board members Rosalie Lynn and Larry Brassem were <br />introduced. <br />New Business <br />A. Senior Requests for Assistance <br />The bill for the new bulletin board which has been installed just to the <br />right of the kitchen window was presented. Bob Pierce moved that we <br />pay the bill and Linda Jackson seconded the motion. The motion <br />passed and Walt was asked to write the check before he left an <br />
