Youth Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />DATE <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />o Less restrictions- we don't want to limit participation, but Don suggests <br />we do limit it to only 20 poets/3 poems each as a maximum <br />• Art Auction: joint with poetry? <br />o Silent Auction, Comments from Lynn Wooten of LAA <br />Donating, pricing, selling art... etc... <br />Would need a HUGE audience <br />Art is personal- is a large time commitment <br />Hang art on walls? -Maybe with Louisville Art Association <br />Chap book- includes all poems that are read at poet-a-thon <br />• Printers that specialize in printing these books <br />• Illustration with each poem maybe? <br />Get in touch with Huckleberry poets for information about printing chap books <br />LCC & LAA-discussed what they said about the poetry and art auction not <br />working well together <br />• Katelynn- perhaps we should just focus on learning from last year and making <br />it a bigger and better event focused on poetry <br />Nicole- likes the chapbook idea <br />Luc- we could get someone to illustrate the poems <br />Voted on the fundraiser- it was unanimously decided to go forward with the <br />Poet-a-thon and Chapbooks <br />Discuss Howl-o-ween Pet Parade <br />• Yay! Cute event, good turn out, the YAB members were very helpful <br />Discuss sub-committees functions and findings <br />• Sam- read an article in National Geographic about light pollution and <br />suggested we look into how Louisville could become a National Dark City <br />o Will discuss this more at the next meeting <br />Volunteer Project for November: Community Food Share and Computer <br />Sign up for food share! 11/18/08 at 4:30-6pm or 11/20/08 at 4:30-6:30pm <br />On-line application- we will work with Betsy Janowak on 11/19/08 at the <br />library's Homework Center to complete an application for the Jared Polis <br />Foundation to fund the inner city youth computer project <br />Discuss future volunteer projects <br />May possibly open <br />January will be the computer project <br />Discuss YAB Webpage and any suggested updates to it <br />• New Picture! Mandy has an updated photo AND we should all wear our best <br />attire to the next meeting for a new photo. <br />Members to other boards and commissions <br />• Megan V to City Coucil <br />o Large Art Center in Louisville! <br />
