Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 20, 2008 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />Lewis reported on her visit to the site with the owner, Ronda Grassi. She stated that <br />the building has "very good bones" and has had very few changes made over the <br />years. She noted that updating the building to meet commercial code could be <br />difficult and possibly expensive. She spoke with the owner about some possible <br />scenarios that would save the building. <br />Lewis added that she would like to see the owner consider reusing the building and <br />incorporating it into the commercial use of the site and recommended to the owner <br />that she complete a feasibility study to this end. <br />Lewis noted that the mechanical and plumbing systems would need to be upgraded <br />for commercial use. <br />Lewis will contact the owner again to continue the conversation. <br />Ms. Downer's Cabins <br />There was no update. Lewis will ask Jean Morgan if this needs to remain as a <br />standing item on the agenda. She will recommend to Jean it me removed but noted <br />we would be happy to place it back on the agenda if Jean has any new information. <br />Items from Staff <br />Terms Ending <br />Muth reminded Koertje, McMenamin, and Tofte that reapplication letters are due By <br />November 3. <br />Open Government Training, November 5, 7:00 PM or November 6, 8:30 AM, <br />Council Chambers <br />Muth reminded members they need to attend every two years and Koertje and Lewis <br />need to attend this year. <br />State Historic Preservation Commission Training Session -November 21 <br />Muth reminded members of the State training to be held in Denver. <br />Items from Commission Members <br />Koertje stated he would contact Historic Boulder again about a possible joint meeting. <br />Muckle asked if the City's GIS needs assessment will include the need for historic <br />information on parcels. She noted that the preservation needs of a GIS system might be a <br />good initial project for the City to consider. <br />Muth noted that the preservation needs have been included in the needs assessment. <br />Muckle asked about the City purchasing a scanner to scan the assessor cards at the <br />Carnegie. Lewis noted that she may have a scanner from her office that could be used. <br />Whiteman asked if such hardware could be paid for out of the ballot issue 2A proceeds <br />should it pass. <br />Muth stated it likely could be. Muth added she will contact the staff at the Carnegie to <br />discuss getting permission to possibly scan the cards. <br />
