Recreation Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />10/22/2018 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />• This topic was discussed in the City Council Update. <br />Finance Committee Update — Van Pelt <br />• Discussed membership numbers and new fees. The subcommittee <br />reviewed the budget assumptions with staff and felt they were reasonable. <br />• The operating assumption is that 2019 attendance will be 16% higher than <br />2017. This is consistent with the assumption used by GreenPlay in their <br />original analysis. <br />Recreation Staff Update and Construction Update — Martin <br />• There is push to complete the parking lot before asphalt plants close for <br />the winter. <br />• Approximately 125 tradespeople are on site each day. On street parking <br />has resumed, which costs $6,500 per month. <br />• The Senior Center may reopen as soon as November. <br />• The second job fair is complete. About 100 people attended, mainly <br />fitness instructors on Friday, and aquatics people on Saturday. <br />• Since reopening after Labor Day, the Rec Center has seen over 300 new <br />memberships per month. <br />• A new facilities tech starts 11/13/18. The new fitness supervisor starts <br />10/29/18. <br />• Parks and Recreation Director applications are coming in. Interviews will <br />take place 11/14. Meet and greet the candidates open house will take <br />place 5:30 — 6:30 11/13. An interview panel from the Open Space Board, <br />Parks Board and Recreation Board will participate. Michele Van Pelt <br />volunteered to represent RAB. <br />Grand Opening Update (scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 2019) — Martin <br />• Preliminary planning starting. <br />• Subcommittee, Norgard and Shoulders, from RAB formed. <br />Bylaws Update and Approval <br />• Bylaws were reviewed. <br />
