HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Information from Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
This house was built in 1936 by Henry and Evodie Helart, who were part of Louisville's
French community. This location was on the edge of Louisville's Frenchtown
neighborhood. Both Henry and Evodie were born in France. They were married and
lived in Marshall, Colorado, where Henry was a coal miner, before moving to Louisville.
They lived in Louisville with their five children: Bertha, Aimee, Henry, Jr., Evodie; and
Frank. Henry Helart died in 1937. Elodie Helart lived in the house until the 1967, when
she died. The Helart family owned the house until 1968, when a member of another
French family purchased it, Carol Warembourg Koch Johnston.
Carol Warembourg was born in 1934 and grew up nearby at 397 County Rd. on the
other side of the neighborhood of Frenchtown. Her father, Arthur Warembourg, lived in
the house from the 1970s-1990s, after which the property became a rental. Carol
Warembourg Koch Johnston was associated with it until her death in 2018.
A Boulder County Assessor card for this property could not be located and is not among
the scanned images of Louisville properties that the Louisville Historical Museum
obtained from Boulder's Carnegie Library for Local History.
213 Roosevelt, east view — Current Photo
