11: City,/ im Louisville COLORADO • SINCE 1878 BUSINESS RETENTION AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE SUBJECT: DATE: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE DECEMBER 3, 2018 PRESENTED BY: AARON DEJONG, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT McCaslin Area Development Study The City's consultants, EPS and Trestle Strategy, are continuing work on the McCaslin Area Study. The next step to City Council will be analyses of various development scenarios as to their market viability, fiscal performance, and satisfying the community's desires for the area. The analysis is currently scheduled to be presented at the City Council's December 18, 2018 meeting. Allen Company Breaking Ground The Allen Company has broken ground on their two building, 300,000 sf industrial project on 104th Street in the CTC. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2019. Vaisala Expansion Approval Vaisala's proposal to expand their US Headquarters facility in the CTC was approved by the City Council on November 27, 2018. The 30,000 sf additional will provide additional space for the Company's growth. Vaisala elevated the design of the expansion beyond the standard requirements for industrial properties in the CTC, linking their desire to create an exceptional space for their employees and look to their Finnish roots for design inspiration. Staff reached out to several local businesses to see if the increased marketing efforts resulted in better sales than previous years. All businesses we spoke to saw increased traffic on the day and most reported they significantly beat sales results from the same day of previous years.
