LCityof <br />Louisville <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />CINDY DOMENICO DAY <br />FEBRUARY 5, 2019 <br />Whereas, the City Council wishes to recognize Commissioner Cindy Domenico for her <br />extensive and exceptional representation of southeast Boulder County and the City of Louisville, <br />and for her many years of public service; and <br />Whereas, in 2007, after the death of Tom Mayer, Cindy Domenico was appointed County <br />Commissioner and was then elected three times to represent the southeastern portion of <br />Boulder County including the City of Louisville in District 3, on the Boulder County Board of <br />Commissioners, each time garnering more than 6o% of voter support; and <br />Whereas, prior to her tenure as Commissioner, Cindy was appointed as the County Assessor in <br />1996 and was subsequently elected Boulder County Assessor for three consecutive terms; and <br />Whereas, Cindy was raised on her family's multi -generation farm on Baseline Road in <br />Lafayette, and grew up appreciatingfarming, hard work, stewardship of the land and care and <br />concern for animals and others, and <br />Whereas, Cindy stayed true to her deep roots in agriculture by working to protect local <br />agriculture and the conservation of agricultural land, and to provide support for farmers and <br />local food production, through projects such as the Harney-Lastoka Kerr Community Gardens, <br />and <br />Whereas, she remained a tireless champion of open space, land conservation and historic <br />preservation in southeast Boulder County, assisting with the preservation of the Mayhoffer <br />property and many other open space lands that contribute to the City of Louisville's remaining <br />agricultural and rural character, and incredible network of trails; and <br />Whereas; Cindy promoted a culture of collaboration at Boulder County, which helped to <br />support strong partnerships and foster successful collaborations with municipalities across the <br />County and State; and <br />Whereas, throughout her tenure as Commissioner, Cindy developed a deep knowledge and <br />expertise in Health and Human Services, and championed numerous efforts to improve the lives <br />of Louisville and County residents in need, and <br />Whereas, in 2012, Cindy supported and assisted with the transition of the Louisville. Housing <br />Authority to the Boulder County Housing Authority, and was instrumental in the 2016 <br />development of the Kestrel affordable housing development; and <br />Whereas, Cindy assisted in responding to numerous natural disasters, including the 2013 <br />flood, and helped advocate for the City of Louisville and neighboring jurisdictions for federal <br />assistance to mitigate the impacts, and <br />
