11: City,/ <br />im Louisville <br />COLORADO • SINCE 1878 <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />AGENDA ITEM 2 <br />SUBJECT: <br />DATE: <br />PRESENTATION — GREEN BUSINESS PROGRAM <br />FEBRUARY 12, 2019 <br />PRESENTED BY: KATIE BAUM, SUSTAINABILITY SPECIALIST <br />SUMMARY: <br />The City of Louisville and the Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board (LSAB), in <br />conjunction with Boulder County's Partners for a Clean Environment (PACE) and the <br />Louisville Chamber of Commerce, announce Louisville's 2018 Green Business awards. <br />For the third year of the program, there were 29 applicants that met 2018 program <br />requirements in four categories: energy conservation, water conservation, waste <br />reduction, and transportation alternatives. <br />The Green Business Recognition Program, funded by the City of Louisville and through <br />collaboration with PACE, provides local businesses with one-on-one assistance to <br />incorporate conservation and sustainable practices into their day-to-day business <br />practices and recognizes those businesses who have achieved marked environmental <br />leadership within the community. <br />The City of Louisville recognizes businesses for their investments and contributions to <br />the economic vitality of our community and the health of our environment. In 2017, <br />participating businesses and their sustainability efforts helped save 288 mtCO2, <br />equivalent to 31 homes energy use for an entire year or the amount of carbon <br />sequestered by 339 acres of U.S. forests in one year. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />N/A <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />None. <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />
