I resigned from this role in 2009 to avoid a conflict of interest with a neighboring restaurant that I was in a illegal construction fight with.
2010-2014 Austin (light) rail advocate. I have long been in favor of rail as an alternative form of transport, having grown up in the UK. However, as CapMetro went ahead with it's initial Project
Connect, with support from the city, I joined together with a small number other activists to form the core of the OUR RAIL Political Action Committee as part of the NO Campaign, The route
chosen was to enable more construction, rather than address the existing, extreme congestion on the University of Texas to downtown route. I funded print ads as well as contributed to TV
ads. The rail project was partly funded through TIF. It was though defeated by voters and Austin is still fighting even worse traffic, as most of the proposed construction went ahead anyway.
2012-2014 Member of the Bouldin Creek Neighborhood Association, Austin TX.
6
