La <br />Cityof <br />Louisville <br />PARKS & RECREATION <br />Memorandum <br />To: Open Space Advisory Board <br />From: Ember Brignull, Open Space Superintendent <br />Date: April 22, 2019 <br />Re: Staff Updates <br />General: <br />• Spring Open Government Training for Advisory Boards is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1 at <br />6:30 pm at City Hall. According to our records the following OSAB members need to attend: <br />Missy Davis, Fiona Garvin, Helen Moshak, and Thomas Neville. RSVP's are not necessary and <br />a Fall training will be offered if you are unable to attend in the Spring. <br />• We are looking for help! If OSAB members are interested in volunteering to assist in the <br />following education events please email Catherine Jepson at Catherine)@louisvilleco.gov: <br />o 11th Annual Fishing Frenzy. Friday, April 12th from 9:00 to 1:00 pm. Warembourg <br />fishing pond. <br />o Harney Lastoka Open Space and 7th Generation Farm Tour and Presentation. <br />Saturday, April 27th from 10:00 to 1:00 pm. <br />o Kids to Parks Day. Saturday, May 18th from 10-1. <br />• CSU Weed Study at Davidson Mesa and Aquarius is being extended. 2018 final report will be <br />sent out to OSAB. <br />• Municipal Code Revisions for the Parks and Open Space Titles are scheduled for City Council <br />Review on April 16th and May 7th <br />• Positions have been offered to two candidates for the seasonal positions. One offer has been <br />accepted at this point. <br />• First interviews for the Sr. Natural Resource Specialist Position occurred on Tuesday, April 2nd <br />Second interviews will be scheduled for early April. <br />• Open Space Superintendent has been asked to present at the annual COSA conference <br />regarding successful implementation of a Ranger Program. <br />• Staff is working with the Transportation Master Plan consultants and other City Departments <br />to develop staff recommendations for project priorities. Once recommendations are <br />finalized the consultants will present to OSAB. <br />• Staff has installed an American kestrel nest box with a live -streaming camera at the City <br />Services Building. Footage of activity will be shared on the City website if the nest box is <br />active this season. <br />• Interpretive panels have been installed at the Hecla Lake bird blind with information on <br />resident and migratory birds, and other wildlife (photo below). <br />• Trail repair at Hillside Open Space (photo below). <br />• Dog bag stations have been installed at Hecla Lake. <br />10 <br />
