Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />Thursday May 2, 2019 <br />Louisville City Services <br />739 S. 104th St <br />7:00 PM <br />1. Roll Call: PPLAB members present: Shelly Alm, Dave Clabots missing, Diana Gutowski <br />missing, Mark Newland, Laurie Harford, Ellen Toon, Ezra Paddock. Staff Liaison: Dean <br />Johnson. Director of Parks & Rec Nathan Mosley. City Council Liaison Susan Loo <br />2. Approval of Agenda: Unanimously approved <br />3. Approval of Minutes: Unanimously approved <br />4. Staff Updates <br />A. July meeting: Thursday is the 4th; this meeting will be moved to July 11tn <br />B. Lots of feedback on the park naming contest. <br />C. Hiring Season: We have 2 temps hired, out of 16 needed. Slow start to the hiring <br />season, due to the competitive work environment. <br />D. Freeze resistant drinking fountains: We can put a fountain in either Miner's field, <br />Community Park, or the Arboretum. Cottonwood was brought up as an alternative <br />choice. Board discussed which park to put the drinking fountain in; chose <br />unanimously to consider Community Park as the first choice. Cottonwood Park as <br />the second choice. <br />5. Board Updates <br />A. Mark may be leaving the board soon due to an out of town move. Mark's term is up <br />in December. Mark will attend as a non -voting member for as long as he is able to. <br />City Council has decided that no board positions will be filled until the next round of <br />advertising for positions in August, and will be appointed by the new Council in <br />November. <br />B. Branch Recycling page on City Website needs updating. <br />C. Board and Chairperson Commission Training: Training for council liaisons and staff is <br />needed; also orientation for new board members. Ezra and Laurie, the newest <br />members, to consider what would be helpful as an orientation session. <br />6. Public Comments on Items Not on Agenda <br />
