8. Kickoff Meeting with Colorado Designscapes and Design Concepts: Median Landscape <br />Renovations, Capital Improvement Project <br />A. Create a design plan for how the medians will look moving forward. Presenters from <br />Designscapes and Design Concepts: Erik Spring, Bill Wildenberg, Mark Demovsky, <br />Travis Sommervold. <br />B. Budget 2019: $275,000 <br />C. Discussion around various median design concepts, plant materials, hardscapes, etc. <br />Portfolio of Design Concepts local projects presented. <br />D. Recommendation from company to choose a palate of colors/design that would <br />remain consistent between seasons and across the community. <br />E. Timeline: April —June 2019: Explore palette and ideas, collaborative process with <br />city, prioritize medians for budget. <br />F. Review Successes and Areas for Improvement after Phase 1 (2019) before entering <br />into Phase 2 (2020). <br />G. Discussion around various designs and forecasting maintenance costs, and what a <br />"low maintenance" streetscape would entail. Pops of color/interest at the noses, <br />intersections, high visibility areas, and lower maintenance concepts going deeper <br />into the median. <br />H. Coordinate Ash Tree mitigation with the median project. Discussion around ash tree <br />mitigation approach. PPLAB is supportive of a graduated, sectioned approach to <br />mitigation, focusing on the ash trees and honey locusts that are unhealthy. Plant <br />new trees near groups of ash trees designated for removal. <br />9. Update from Subdivision Entry Landscape Improvements Subcommittee on the <br />Related Capital Improvement Project and Discussion <br />A. Subcommittee is discussing various programmatic approaches. <br />B. There are many different entries to consider. <br />C. Communication to City Council around the common sense approach. Budget for this <br />year is $7000 for design; $50,000 budget next year for implementation. <br />D. Two tiers of improvement: entries with utilities and entries without utilities. <br />Standard design palettes for each tier. PPLAB would guide the design process. <br />E. Discussion to remove defunct HOA Subdivision signs. <br />F. Bella Vista/Hoover and Cherry/Madison entryways were discussed as entries to <br />possibly start on, as with one or two additional entries in different parts of town. <br />10. Agenda Items for Next Meeting: Park Naming Contest, Entryways, Medians, "Adopt a <br />Park" pilot project. <br />11. Adjourn: 9:40 p.m. <br />
